Spintor is a biological, broad-spectrum insecticide with the active ingredient spinosad that controls a wide range of pests, including caterpillars and thrips, by contact and ingestion. It is derived from a naturally occurring soil bacterium, Saccharopolyspora spinosa, and is available in various formulations. 

Safety and Precautions

Beneficial Insects: It is generally considered safe for beneficial insects when used as directed, making it a good fit for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs.

Pollinators: Do not apply Spintor to blooming crops as it can be toxic to bees exposed to the treatment for several hours after application.

Aquatic Life: It is toxic to fish and other aquatic invertebrates, so care must be taken to avoid runoff into water sources.

Handling: Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as long sleeves, pants, and chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection during handling and application, and follow all label directions carefully.
